Voluntary work

Being a volunteer in the field can be an enriching experience, but it also can be traumatic or involve some risks, only acceptable by the deep and sincere wish of helping the people who most need it. We find ourselves in a big humanitarian crisis and, as it, you must be aware of the uncertainty, the lack of information, and the changes that happen every day in these areas. In a humanitarian crisis you can´t count on guarantees, and spend a lot of time finding where your help is really needed. Remember that not only good must been done, it must be done well.

Do not forget that you can help refugees, from now, in a local level as a PAREM volunteer or another association or NGO. However, if you are sure that you want to be a volunteer in the field, we suggest you to follow the next steps:

– Read the information and fill in the application forms of the organizations that coordinate volunteers, for example Bienvenidos Refugiados Voluntariados Grecia (Welcome Refugees Voluntary Greece) (https://www.facebook.com/bienvenidosrefugiadosgrecia/posts/1515986132036355:0 ).

– Search in the directory where they are listed and what kind of volunteers is required each moment (http://www.greecevol.info/task.list.php ).

– Don´t be shy! Search and join a Facebook page or a website where you can find volunteers that currently work in the areas that you want to go. Read the comments, the other volunteer´s necessities and explain your case. According with the dates and destination, there are also whatsapp/telegram groups where the information is exchanged, and the transport and the lodging is coordinated. Encourage yourself to contact them through social networks.
